Occasional misfires are not as bad as when you are doing full speed with hot car and SUDDENLY, the spark is gone but fuel injectors keep feeding raw fuel into the blazing hot catalytic converter.
That's when the cat melt down happens and you can't fail safe against that since you don't know when it will happen. Just like it did happen with the early black IDM's.
So it is kind of sad that we are back to that scenario because of the market being flooded by cheap IDM's.
Here in CA it is a different story when it comes to catalytic converters and it is made more difficult with this pancake style precat that Saab squeezed in between the radiator and engine.
No one sell a CA approved bolt on after market cat but you have to have a muffler shop trying to weld in an approved cat within the confines of the law.
