I placed a short piece of duct tape or gorilla tape on just the covers, then grabbed both ends of the tape and pulled outwards, rather than peeling as I stated earlier.
The WIS instructions are to use a screw to penetrate the cover, then a pair of pliers to yank out the screw and cover. But that permanently damages the covers and you need to buy a new set.
I took photos of my dash and radio head unit when removed, as well as of the special antenna adapters needed to intercept the SAAB antenna cable (same as VW) to feed the digital FM receiver. Finally found them.
