If I’m not mistaken, the 180 degree thermostat will open earlier, and coolant will circulate sooner, ostensibly causing the engine to take longer to come to temperature. Thermostat codes generally get thrown when the engine takes too long to get hot enough (such as when the t-stat is stuck open).
My 2c - Will the difference between 180 and 195 be enough to set a code regularly, maybe not. In very cold weather, maybe more often is just my guess.
What’s your logic for looking to try the cooler thermostat?
