Indy replaced ignition switch - now trouble shifting (5speed)

Good morning,
2000 Aero in very good repair (200k)
A reputable independent mechanic recently replaced the electronic portion of my ignition switch which did solve the starting problem. On the way home I noticed more difficulty shifting into 5th gear and reverse. Some online videos show the linkage being removed for this repair and others do not. What do you folks think? How big of a job to get it right again?
Thank you for your help as always
