A battery isolator is installed in-line with the output wire from the alternator.
I'm not sure about the Saab, but most alternator output wires terminate at the starter + battery cable. Either way, I'd clip the wire at the alternator, and install new (10 gauge minimum) wire from the isolator to the new battery in the trunk.
If the second battery is going to be used for the same electronics as the base battery, then I'd reconsider the isolator. An isolator has diodes, which bring a 1/2 volt drop across each one- more load on the alternator. An isolator is good at keeping the batteries independant....such as running the stereo and TV off it but nothing else.
