Have you looked into getting the part from a wrecking yard? I'm sure there are a few totaled 9-5's around. Secondly, look into finding an independant Saab specialist, or at least someone who works on European imports,they are usually a lot cheaper than the dealers. A lot of cars have simular problems--I know Volvo 850s have a problem with the AC that requires tearing the dash apart, and having worked at an Audi dealer, I used to see alot of late model Audis with the dash torn completely out. I know it's tempting to want to dump a car when you get in that situation, but trust me, it's never the cheap way out. People think it's the cheap way out only because they don't have to cough up the money to fix it--all they have to do is make that new payment next month. But add up how much all of those payments come to and your repair will seem like a real bargain.
