Saab 9-5 versus 04 Passat TDI?? Here is my test drive..

My husband and I went out today and test drove the 04 Arc 9-5 and the 04 Passat TDI. We are leaning toward the Passat TDI. Here are my opinions.
Advantage SAAB: More room, more top end speed, better front seats, better sound (harmon kardon is hard to beat), better leather, power seats,
can tow more weight (man thing), more comfortable overall
Advantage Volkswagen: 40mpg diesel, handles with more agility, handles bumpy roads a little better. great off the line acceleration and great passing (not a lot of difference here against saab), seebs to be a little cleaner in the interior layout. The passat seemed a little bit more fun to drive. I believe the resale of the diesel will be much better than the 9-5.
Both cars were great and different. Our biggest consideration is rising fuel costs. we will put about 40,000 miles a year on the car. I think the resale value is also a huge consideration.
Any thoughts?
