DI stands for Direct Ignition. There is no single ignition coil and distributor - each spark plug has it's own coil sitting right on top. The coils are part of the Direct Ignition cassette. The DI not only provides sparks, it also is used to detect knock.
Always be careful with Error Codes. They give you a start as to where to look, but don't follow them blindly. The engine control is not so sophisticated that it can deal with all the possible failure modes.
Since the spark plugs work with the DI, a spark plug problem can look like a DI problem. Make sure the plugs are the exact right plug as specified in the manual - NO SUBSTITUTIONS! If the parts guy says Belchfire X19s are the same as the specified NGKs, don't believe him. Next, the plugs must be gapped to specs. Very sensitive to gap.
Lastly, it can be a bad DI. Not cheap, but not much is on cars these days.
