I live in DC with an '02 Aero wagon. I have the Saab 16" wheel package with Gislaveds. Based on much feedback from this forum, I determined when I bought the car that winter driving on the 17" (Primacies) would create more damage than than the cost of the tire package, plus I wanted a sense of security for the winter months. Many in the area say you don't need dedicated snow tires here -- we don't get enough of the white stuff. But from my experience, even the smallest amount renders the Aero inoperable. I just had my snows put on last week and I found myself navigating with the Primacies on some snow-covered streets. The ABS came on immediately when stopping and the TCS engaged when accelerating. That's proof enough. My Aero is great, now, in the snow, with this wheel/tire combination.
