A few things to look at:
Replace fuel filter - I had a problem with my '88 900s stalling or just refusing to start. I replaced the fuel filter and the problems never recurred.
When was the last time your 900S had a tune-up (new spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap, plug wires, etc.)? If they haven't been done since you have owned the car, do them now and see if there's an improvement.
What does the tachometer do when you have these stalling problems? If the tach goes to zero when the stalling occurs, it's possible that either the ignition control unit is going bad or that the hall effect sensor or plug on the distributor are intermittent. If so, check those things out.
Good luck and pleas let us know when you get some more info.
