176K miles on the car. It starts well in cold weather, idles fine, but has about the power output of a lawnmower engine (OK, a big lawnmower) until warmed up. When the temp needle reaches its usual full warmed-up position, it's like someone suddenly flipped a switch, and suddenly there's power. Not as much as when the car was younger, mind you, but there's an obvious increase. It's very predictable when the power will increase - I could mark it on the temperature gauge. It then feels like a gentle push from behind, and I can back off on the gas pedal to keep the same speed. The problem is getting worse. Below about 2000 rpm when cold, the car will hardly move into traffic. I've had traffic bearing down on me in this situation. I often can't climb hills at the speed limit.
I tried Hotwires with new Beru Silverstone plugs from spg9 - no different whatsoever. What could possibly be changing so suddenly when the engine warms up? thanks.
