Jon,
I do keep an eye on the weather so that I don't wash the car before a rain. I like the edwardian gray color though, because it doesn't show dust/dirt as obviously as say, black (which was the color of my last saab). I don't have a garage, so this is helpful.
I do park the car pretty far from the grocery store so as to minimize door dings/dents. Of course, friends & family love this and make sure I know how they feel about this obsessive/compulsive practice.
On a different note.. any way to know with certainty whether shocks need to be replaced? I can't tell if the 88 SPG I have is just rough riding due to the suspension, or if new shocks would really make a marked difference.
