Are you getting the Anti-Lock light AND the Brake Fluid light on at the same time? This is different than just the Anti-lock light.
Getting BOTH lights at the same time indicates that the ABS pressure is low. The ABS pressure provides the 'oomph' for both the ABS and the power brake boost. Every time you hit the brakes, even if the car is stopped, you take some of the pressure from the ABS system to provide brake boost. When the pressure goes low, the ABS pump runs and adds pressure to the ABS accumulator. If the pressure drops too low (well below where the pump should come on), both the Anti-Lock and Brake Fluid lights come on. If you're getting both at the same time, I would suspect a low pressure problem, or a sensor problem.
One easy way to check. When the car has been sitting a while, like overnight, the accumulator pressure bleeds down, and the brake fluid flows into the reservoir (where you add brake fluid). So if you open the hood and look in with the car off, you'll see the fluid is actually above the 'Full with accumulator charged' line. When you start the car, the ABS pump starts to run - you get both the Anti-lock and BRake fluid lights, and the level in the reservoir drops. After a bit the lights go out, but the pump keeps running (the lights come on at the low limit, the pump runs the system much higher). After a bit the pump will stop running and the level should have dropped to the FULL line. If you're getting both the lights when not moving but you are pressing the brake, leave the engine running, but open the hood and see where the fluid level is. If the level is at or near the FULL line, then you've got a sensor problem. If the level is well above the FULL line, then the ABS pump isn't pressurizing the system.
