DET:
Interesting!
Here's my out-of-round experience: I had a set of Jetzon tires back in the 1970s on an old 60's muscle car, and they went out of round a year or so after I got them. I could not feel that first harmonic (around 30 MPH) you were talking about, but at exactly 72 MPH, the vibration was horrendous! I had a very hard suspension on that car so the vibrations were transmitted to the body almost completely undamped -- when it vibrated, the instruments were blurred and hard to read! (The company replaced the tires for free, which delighted me... but only a few months later, some woman ran a stop sign and totalled that car.) Anyway, I just thought it was interesting that you mentioned you never experienced a case wherein a tire deformity wasn't VERY noticeable at the first harmonic, and I recall that's how mine was, about 24 years ago.
Best regards,
