Yes, another post on disintegrating wire insulation. My project 85' 900t is severly afflicted by this & I nibble at it whan time permits. However this post is about an 87 SPG....I thought those stupid biodegradable wires were confined to 85/86! I guess there was some bleed over due to excess supply.
Anyway, so far it's just a few select wires between the fuse box & drivers door that need to be addressed (like zero insulation w/constant shorting that actuates the door locks over every bump :( there's some on the on pax side too. The flaking parts of the wires extend all the way down to the door & probably beyond. What I'd like to know is HOW do I get into the door cavity to replace all the affected sections of wire? Making a splice before the door will be asking for trouble.
The bone yard car I pulled some harness from (also turned out to be bad) had the door panels off & I don't see how it'd be possible get at the wires w/o drilling/cutting an access hole. So - to drill or not to drill?
