On my 88 SPG with a recent engine swap from a 91 turbo vert, I am having a problem with missing/stumbling at almost any speed. Intermittent, so I think it could be distributor/hall effect sensor related, but I can't reproduce the issue with the car at a standstill, or at least if it does miss, I can't tell. Under acceleration it will start off smooth if revs are above 2500 or so, but will start to "stutter" soon after. If revs are much lower, it slams on the misfires, enough that I am afraid for the engine mounts and tranny.
I had trouble with the wiring connection to the hall effect sensor, and thought that was my problem, and replacing that with a soldered in connector off a VW worked to improve things, but didn't entirely erase the problem. The tach still drops out occasionally, but not alway when it is stuttering. It feels like when you hit a rev limiter, brummmmm-bur-burpburburbur, but will sometimes smooth back out.
I haven't seen anything above base boost since the engine swap, and don't have the charcoal canister vaccuum line hooked in, because I ran out of possible connections, but there is no obvious vaccuum leak, so at least that system should be out of the question.
Fuel and injection are still kind of black arts to me, so are there any other possibilities that could result in this sort of misbehaviour?
