Yes, in any situation with misses, plugs are always the first thing you should check.
(I just think in junky's situation, it sounds like the symptoms point to a signal issue, not a spark issue)
Reading the plugs is the only way to get a look at what's going on inside the combustion chamber. Beyond the normal USE THE ONE RIGHT PLUG, I would also mention you should tend towards the small side of the gap specification, and always check your plugs for cracked ceramic, inside and out. New plugs can be damaged in shipping, it will cause a problem 100% of the time, and its usually the last thing you check.
