My'91 n/a hatch was going through a run/stall/no start/start/repeat cycle for a couple of weeks until it no longer will start.

This is what I've done so far:

Replaced the fuel pump relay with a used relay and the Saab eventually started up and ran fire a couple of blocks. I checked the old relay for continuity, which it has.

Sprayed ether in a vacuum port which fitted up the engine.

Checked the fuel pump for continuity, which it has.

Jumped the 27 and 30 fuses with a paper clip which did run the pump.

Cranked the ignition after removing the paper clip which had no effect on starting the engine, unlike the ether I sprayed in.

I think that's about it. I am unable to locate the rear ground. I must be blind. And I have yet to bypass the fuel pump relay (I was hoping to stay away from going in there again).

Should I be looking at the ECU next? Or Elkhart's?
