Rear (pass side) caliper replacement

OK, so the pass. side caliper was sticking and I bought a replacement/rebuilt from a european site sponsor. Once I dug into it it was clear that the rotor and pads had to be replaced as well, and I obtained those locally. I'm sooo close to reassembly, but am stuck getting the new caliper and pads to play well together. I suspect the crux of the matter is that the piston on the new caliper is extended too far to permit overlap with pads and rotor but despite my best/worst efforts, I can't find a way to repress the piston.
The replacement part is branded NuGeon and labeled as "semi-loaded" but I have no idea what that means but suspect it may be the crux of my problem-- but what do I know?
A little hep here would be greatly appreciated...
