This right here:
"The amount of time also depends on whether you want to do take care of things best done with the engine out of the 'vert (engine seals, upper control arm bushings, power steering pump, steering rack, turbo return seal, turbo coolant inlet hose, oil cooler hoses, alternator bushings, etc.)"
You can do it quick & dirty in not *all* that much time, but there is so much incentive to take care of these things in the process I can't imagine doing it otherwise unless there is just no choice.
My personal advice is to move slowly - there are all sorts of hacks you can do to speed things up, but moving slowly and being thorough means a lot less forcing stuff and lot more easing through it. By way of example, on the donor car, go ahead and remove the entire front end - lights, radiator, etc. Makes getting the engine out that much easier - and like with Notnoel's advice about the selector cable, you don't have to put it back together anyway. On the recipient vehicle. remove a big portion of the interior - both front seats, the center console, the lower knee bolster - it'll facilitate the pedal and ignition/shifter housing swap. It more nutsnbolts, but it's a lot less struggle. And, with c900 parts getting scarce you don't want to break anything accidentally!
If you've not done this type of work before, expect to take two solid days' work just getting the power units out. Another couple days putting the one back together. My first swap took an entire month's worth of weekends... subsequent ones maybe two weeks - but I also make sure to replace everything I find myself with access to.
Take LOTS of pictures, label everything. But, also, there are a dozen or more people on this board that have done this swap - any question can be answered. :)
