Fuel level sender wrong Posted by ChrisMiami [Email] (#1592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ChrisMiami) on Wed, 10 May 2017 08:28:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is 2nd hand:
I swapped in a new gas tank and when everything was back in place, the fuel gauge started
rearding 1/4 tank lower than actual. Pulling the float back out and turning it upside down (so
it should send 'full'), it still reads 3/4 tank. Shorting the wires pushes the gauge up to "F", so
I don't think it's the gauge. Trying with a different float from another car also yields 3/4 when
turned upside down.
Is there something that might be interfering with the float (i.e., maybe its in an assembly that has a rod preventing full travel)? Is there anything inside something that might be acting as a resistor and lowering the current sent by the sender?
Has anyone run into this? New floats don't seem to be readily available...
Thanks,
Chris
