The 87 MY uses the earlier bracket to the one pictured. It's attached at the adjuster and the bolt directly below that, as shown in your image.
I'll write a specific response on this thread apart from this, but just for completion, this problem has now been solved. A new bearing in the 'sealed back' wheel along with a new belt has solved the issue. No lateral movement whatsoever, only a straight tracking belt.
That's probably the cleanest looking motor I've seen. Looks great.
