Things definitely got strange in the front end department of my 87 with122K, heres what I know. I had previously had a rattle which I believe was a control arm bushing....I backed up a grade with a trailer on the car and things got a bit odd after that. On the trip home(270miles) I suddenly got a very strange shimmy/wobble in the front end...pulled over because I thought i had blown a tire....it was that noticable. Upon checking, nothing. The rest of the trip was uneventful then about 400 miles later it got loose and weird again.....15 seconds and it was over....then I'm thinking a bad belt in the tire...but I have occasionally noticed a slight click from the drivers front on right turns...assume I damaged a driveshaft backing up the trailer. But last night at low speed the front end got quite wobbly...when I braked lightly a strong 1 to 2 inch osillation in the steering wheel, with the obvious shaking of the entire car....also, on a hard left turn at low spped (parking) it feels like the wheel is binding....I don't have a clue what all this means....I cannot detect an obvious problem but I am supposed to go away (500mileRT) and I'm very concerned about some sort of catastrophic failure. Any thoughts...tie rods, ball joints, steering rack....I just don't know. Thanks for any thoughts you might have....I understand my car quite well, but the front end is voodoo to me!
