My mothers car is an 89 900tc. It is very clean, and when it needed a top, we were VERY selective about who did the work. I looked into 4-5 places. The place we chose is in SE PA. They did a great job. Everything was perfect. I picked the shop that I did because they had a lot of experience with SAAB convertables, and the two owners each had one. I have heard that SAAB convertables are pretty easy to replace the top on, and most shops can do a decent job. The only thing I was disapontinted about was the two small black metal pieces were replaced with new chrome ones. I would have rather seen the old black ones reinstalled. It has been 18 months since we had it done, and the top still looks perfect. They also lubricated all of the mechanical stuff, so the car is much quieter now. (less rattles)
I am glad you consider your convertable your baby, they are in my eyes the prettiest cars saab ever built, and I like pre 90 converts best, since they don't have that ugly airbag steering wheel. (89 has that nice leather wrapped wheel as an extra bonus)
Take good care of it, I hope to have my own this spring. Driving a car with a roof is really beat in the summer:)
