The inner cover seems to be the "weathertight" seal that seals all edges (bottom, top, and sides). The outer cover just seals across the bottom. The outer side covers aren't glued as far as I can tell. I think they just rely on tension, and overlap the edges of the glass enough to protect the inner cover.

If your's is just beginning to let go in a few spots, you might be able to reglue just those areas. If you get the tension off the canvas, you can probably hold it it place long enough to setup. GOOP is a contact cement, so it will bond the pieces together fairly quickly. Temperature and humidity are important. Try to work on a warm day if possible.

As far as mine goes, my problem started with the outer bottom cover coming loose all the way across. I tried the double sided tape, which only lasted a week and then came loose. One hard rain later the inner canvas came loose at the bottom too and my window was dangling.

I unzipped the rear window and let it rest upright in the well to get the tension out of the canvas. I glued the outer cover first by spreading the GOOP along the entire bottom edge of both the glass and the canvas. Since GOOP is a contact cement, you wait a few minutes for the glue to start to setup on both pieces, then press them together. If you can get most of the tension off the canvas, it will stay in place fairly well. I let the outer canvas cure 24 hours, then held the window up in place using the snap while I did the inner canvas.

Good luck...
