'91 9kt, 127K miles. The intake camshaft has some scratches in each of its bearing surfaces, deep enough that I can feel them with my fingernail, but not with the pad of my fingertip. The corresponding bearing endcaps are similarly scratched, although not as deep. Exhaust cam surfaces all look good.
Also, is it normal to see a gap between the cylinder wall and the piston? I can see the rings through this gap. I guess I expected a tighter fit. The cross-hatched honing marks are still visible all the way around the cylinder walls. Also, there's a rough layer of carbon on the piston crowns. Thanks.
