Internally, it's the same engine as the Aero and the FPT - the only difference is software and a BPC (OK, the Aero has the better Mitsubishi). Can the 9-3 engine be safely tuned to 300 hp without replacing the pistons - no. Can the 9-5 Aero engine be tuned above 300 hp without replacing the pistons - no! Can the LPT be tuned above 400 hp with the stock pistons - YES!! Guess which cams people in Sweden use when they want to upgrade their 9-5 Aeros - yep, the B234's. It's a real badly designed engine, that LPT - no wonder GM axed the 9000. Anything that badly designed deserves to be taken off the market! Buying a LPT is probably one of the smartest choices a person who is looking at 9000's could make - not only is it a very robust design, it's probably seen less thrashing than the Aeros you seem to be so enamored with. I'd never hesitate recommending a LPT - in fact, I'd wager that a LPT w/automatic would be less probable of 'grenading' than an Aero automatic......so you haven't convinced me, Dave.
