The EDU in your '97 is different from the one that's in a '93 or '94. The EDU is what actually calculates the coolant temperature. It gets a signal from the engine coolant temperature sensor, which is a negative correlation resistor. The control module figures the coolant temperature from the voltage it sees from this varying resistance and it uses the info' to control the steps of the 2-speed radiator fan. The trip computer supplies the voltage to the coolant temperature gauge via pin 22 and pin 24 supplies a 1-9 volts signal which controls the reading on the temperature gauge. I've done conversions on 3 different vehicles and most of the wires used are the same color, BUT, they go to different pin numbers on the EDU and various gauges.
