If it helps. In addition to my 93 CSE and 92 9KT, I also look after an 88 SPG. For awhile the SPG refused to start after having established itself as a reliable starter. There was no fuel pump or injector action. I tried hot wire to pump (which activated pump but would not start motor). I tried a different ECU I bought off eBay, no change. Then I noticed how bad the insulation was on some wires that connect to the ECU. I jiggled them a bit and car starts right up (I will do a more thorough repair of course).

My point, be sure the wires are in good shape, its not always components. If the fuel pump does not operate as you try to start the car, (but does when hot wired) perhaps the ECU is not getting the signal from the CPS.
