clutch master mounting bracket broke

Guys, I didnt think this was possible, but... there is a bracket that the clutch master bolts to, which holds it in place while you push the pedal up and down. The clutch got softer and softer this weekend, until finally I got stuck in a parking lot today (wouldnt go into reverse). I managed to get the car home using some tarp straps I had in the trunk to hold the master off of the floor so I could push the pedal down to get the car in gear. Once I got home, I put the clutch master and bracket in the approximate correct position and globbed it up with tons of epoxy putty. Tomorrow afternoon we'll see if this holds it enough. I guess this is the crap that goes wrong when you have 380k miles on the car. Anyone else run into this issue?
