Scott, though this may have nothing to do with it, all my 9000s over the years have had problems with temp sender units. I've owned dozens and dozens of saabs and never, until owning a 9000, have I ever needed to change the sensor. It is the same one (until '96 I believe) as all the previous saabs but the temp would either read too high or really low. (blew a radiator in the purple/blue one I had because the car was reading normal yet glowing red.
It would never hurt to give the car a cooling checkup. My 9000 that JAK pumped up doesn't run hot ever. In fact, the fan seldom comes on unless I'm sitting, idling for a while.
