the way to look for a drain, is with a multimeter. you want to go through the fuses that have 12v with the car off, pull fuses one at a time, and see if there is a draw across the socket. there are some things that will have minor draws, since they require power to work, the alarm, power locks, etc. But nothing should be significant.
The brake light diagram *always* shows the rear bulbs until you press the pedal. that is how it tests the bulbs. The abnormal behavior that points to bad grounds, is the other stuff you mentioned...
Possibly the ground for the instrument cluster? or even a loose connection. none of this likely has anything to do with the battery drain
