Steering easy when cold but stiff when warm - help! Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Wed, 27 May 2009 17:17:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 97 9000 with 90k miles. Don't know much about this car having purhased it with a bad engine. I replaced the engine 2000 miles ago and working out some bugs now.
I primarily have just one issue left...power steering is hard/stiff.
Steering is easier in the morning and gets stiff after driving for a while. It seems that the amount of "stiffness" is rpm related. If I were to bump the trans into neutral and rev the motor a bit while turning, the steering is less stiff than if I didn't. I'm leaning toward replacing the p/s pump first. I've read lots of other posts relating to steering bearings/u-joints/racks and don't seem to have the same symptoms. Can anyone help - THANKS
Dan
