Matching holes. Posted by Ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ryan) on Wed, 19 Aug 2009 19:57:21 In Reply to: Re: Shift adjustment problems on 1990 9Ks, DickT [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 19 Aug 2009 19:29:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Everything I've seen says there's supposed to be a hole at the base of the shifter assembly. There is a tiny hole on the right of the stick, and a tiny hole in the right side of the assembly (the part that sticks up (bolted to the right of) the gearshift bracket. They line up when shifted into reverse. This isn't even close to being 4mm, it's more like 2mm, if that. And when I stuck a little screwdriver into that, I still had 1/2" of play on the stick. I'm taking the whole assembly apart tomorrow...
My impression is that there was something that locked the selector rod in place (as in, screwdriver or drill bit *through* the selector rod). What I have looks nothing like pictures in the Saab 9000 Haynes manual, or anything I've seen here on saabnet.
Frustrating,,,
