93 9000 CSE Resurrection - Belt Tensioner - Next Issue Posted by RAVC1 [Email] (#247) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RAVC1) on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 14:30:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 1993 donor car has the current belt tensioner; the car I am repairing does not. I checked Tom Townsend's site but the page has never loaded for me. I also read John Peed's information.
The difficulty is in the degree of repair I choose. Making the tool to secure the belt tensioner is easy; deciding to rebuild the current tensioner (p/n 49 01 419) or, replace the entire assembly in view of my circumstances, is my concern. Advice? My desire is not to go overboard; rather give the CSE a lengthy drive before maintenance comes into view.
I plan to purchase new tensioner and idler pulleys since this CSE has not run since 12/2005. I will renew the starter and alternator since I'm in this far and will also ad the 115 A alternator. It appears the Continental belt is the current preference.
