Thanks for the input. I removed the correct tensioner from my donor CS 2.3i after my initial post to assess its state. I have only removed the assembly from the block and will disassemble the absorber tomorrow. The seal between the upper/lower housings of the absorber looks good after cleaning it; no cracking or any type of degradation visible to my eyes. All the bolts look good but I have not removed the tensioner pulley to assess that. I will certainly add the bolt to my list of parts to replace if it appears questionable.
Based on what I see so far I may be able to use this existing absorber and treat it better with the Mobil 1 ATF I read of here (Derf suggestion??? I've been reading this forum for so many continuous days that I'm losing detail...). Resurrecting a vehicle is hard thorough work.
