I am removing the B234 to replace front/rear crank seals. I am also likely to replace the oil pump o-ring. I have seen posts describing the Townsend method for loosening the crank bolt but I have not found any posts for removing the crank damper from the nose of the crank. How do I remove the damper safely?
It appears I should consider replacing the CPS since I'm in the same location too.
I am also having difficulty removing the serpentine belt tensioner from my donor B234 (it has the improved absorber). The torx bolt is the culprit. Are there any known solutions for getting this bolt out or, do I simply continue practicing "difficult fastener removal techniques"? I am thinking of removing the two hex head bolts toward the front of the engine and then attempting to rotate the rear aluminum plate of the tensioner assembly to see if it will move and help free up the torx bolt. So far, I have applied PB Blaster frequently and hit the face of the bolt numerous times in an effort to get it to move. The torx socket is okay for now but, I need to be careful...
