I've used Bilsteins on Mercedes cars, and now the 9000 for more than ten years. I've not seen one fail, but others have seen pressure leaks after hitting a vicious pothole, or whacking a curb. A simple test is to elevate the front of the car(9000) 24 inches on a pair of jack stands for 48 hours, then lower the car. If you have blown seals, the car will have great damping for a week and then degrade to what you think is sloppy performance.
I'm not sold on the 'huge difference' SAS bars make; the stock sway bars in my 96 CS are 19mm cross-section, the SAS bars are 20mm cross-section, a 5% difference.I WOULD believe that bushings in the control arms and at the sway bar ends ARE a big difference and predict that's where your wear issues are.
Put the car up in the air for 48 hours, slide around underneath and evaluate for yourself. Spend money wisely. Congrats when busting 300K!
