A stage 5 software tune from SQR results in around 340bhp with all corresponding hardware. My car has all that hardware and more (19t TD04 turbo, 3-bar map, catalytic converter delete) upgraded pistons, cams and valve springs) so it can support a custom software tune developing 350bhp & 400 ft/lbs at 22psi. Car is scary fast and sounds incredible at full throttle in 3rd gear.
My car just passed 90k miles. I bought it with 87k and there aren't many receipts to speak of so I don't know when the filter was changed, if ever. I am ordering a new fuel pump and filter. Also installing an air/fuel gauge to keep an eye on things.
My indy mechanic suspected the D.I. cassette was causing the hesitation/shuttering and extra cranks on engine startup. In his experience, fuel pumps die pretty much all at once, there's really no gradual deterioration to speak of. I popped in an extra used one and replaced some tired vacuum hoses and things seem okay for now.
Never knew there was such a simple test to check the health of a BCV. Thanks.
I bought the Forge valve because it offered additional spring stiffnesses to achieve the higher boost pressures I was seeking. It is supposed to handle 30psi+ with efficiency but bleeds pressure under full boost (making a high itched whistle my fiance swears is the sounds of the car about to explode) and then flutters when released, so I'm sure its not doing its job very well.
But what is the best BOV to use in the 20-30psi range?
Thanks,
Daven
