You will have an extremely hard time getting the accelerator cable off the top of the pedal arm without damaging the retainer clips with it still on the pedal cluster bracket.

You would also have to be an extreme contortionist to do it!

Do as I said and remove the two screws/bolts that hold the pivot point to the bracket and leave the accelerator pedal still attached to the cable.
