my '96 Aero has no a/c high pressure switch Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Mon, 13 Aug 2012 08:01:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In the course of my electrical troubleshooting, I discovered my '96 Aero has no high pressure switch, which surprised me. The connector is there, but nothing connected to it, and no switch in the condenser. Is this a normal deviation from specs on some model/years? If so, presumably somewhere in the system there is something to tell the compressor to turn on despite not having that signal; could this potentially reside in the main ECU? I swapped the ECU with a modified one a while back, which could explain why it no longer turns on, even with a full charge. I can't recall if the two events coincided, as it was quite a long time ago now.
Also, does anyone know if the high pressure switch is a normally closed switch that opens when the pressure gets too high? I'd like to do a test where I short out the connector, to simulate a switch in place.
