Bad Fuel Mileage Need Advise Posted by 2 Saabs [Email] (#765) [Profile/Gallery] (more from 2 Saabs) on Mon, 10 Feb 2014 13:01:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My gas mileage has dropped drastically in the last 6 months and I am only getting about 20 mpg around town. I used to get a consistent 24 mpg and close to 27 mpg on the highway. I've re-gapped the plugs (5000 miles on current set) and they looked black and oily. New coolant temp sensor when I put on a new water pump and 83 degree thermostat. The FPR seems to hold a vacuum and I have checked the hoses for leaks. The O2 sensor only has 20K on it. I unplugged it at the connector under the aquarium and my multimeter bounced around between .06 to .02. Also, a year ago I had my Indy do a compression test which was 150 psi across all cylinders which is ok for an engine with 250K miles on it. I plan on removing the center muffler (resonator) because it is rattling a lot and have pipe put in its place. 50 Bucks seems like an economical alternative to a new one.
Any ideas on what to look at or replace?
