Here it is pretty much true that if a car has ANY warning lights, they'll fail it, and worse - with transmission to the state's server records attached to that car's VIN.
Then the pressure is on & you will NOT get a sticker until it is shown to be fixed.
I always remove many of the bulbs as a matter of routine & generally also shut down the ABS altogether as I consider it to be an excessive nuisance.
Now that I've seen folks saying that SRS & ABS are not OBDII items, I'll go right ahead & neuter them both with a smile !!
What I dislike most about the entire stinky 'airbag' idea is that I've personally known several folks who lost (adult) family members in accidents where the explosive forces combined with the various other vectors of force made for terminal head injuries.
Funny how those sorts of killer deals sort of fall below the radar though...
A way to grasp how serious such things can be is the situation where you'd be cruising along at 50MPH with proper safety gear on a motorcycle - and a junebug just happens to fly straight into your throat.
They're not huge, very heavy or much of a threat most of the time, but just that small collision at speed in such a soft & unprotected place can easily cause significant harm.
Now replace that with an explosion putting a bag of hot gasses that for a second is hard as a rock - right into your face which suddenly goes from maybe 50MPH to ZERO by colliding with said 'airbag'.
Not pretty.
Now add 20+ years of wear & tear on the sensors, etc. - is it even remotely likely to work according to its design specs ??
I'm simply not that trusting of all those many factors.
