Bought a new 1986 900S 5-speed after being hit head-on in my Porsche 911S. Liked the Saab and felt safe. Sold it at 179,000 miles with original everything excpet brakes, tires, belts, cold start valve, and filters and tuneup parts. Wish I never sold it. Bought a 1989 9000T 5-speed with 113,000 miles form a private owner. Now have 236,000+ miles and plan to drive it at least to 300,000. So much more car than the 900S. Feel safer on highway with the 9000. It is a fantastic road car, but not great around town. It is geared a bit high, but that also gives me better mileage than with the 900S. My wife has a 1987 900T covertible that is fun, but not for me (excpet in great weather. My daughters each have a 1987 900T, one is a 5-speed adn the other is an auto. Both fun around town. Auto more fun in town, but 5-speed more fun on open road. Open second roads are great in the 900T 5-speed, but the 9000T is THE car for the highway. If I push the 9000 it seems like it can handle as well as those 900 s. 9000 is more versatile with the split rear seat and the legroom in the back is unbelievable. Many nice features missing on the 900 like controlled seat heaters, rear reading lights, front reading light that can be aimed, console storage, nicer door pockets, easier to change rear exterior light bulbs, pictogram on dash telling you when an exterior light is out, ACC, exterior temp guage, trip computer, etc. Drawbacks: need to jack up car to change oil filter, more expensive to replace clutch, a zillion electronic sensors that could fail and need to be replaced. Bottom line? After driving a nice 900 SPG and a nice 9000 Aero, I want the Aero after my old 9000T is to tired to treat me well. I figure about 350,000 on the odometer. Good luck. Val
