Well, I bought it :) Posted by bryan [Email] (#542) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bryan) on Tue, 14 Nov 2000 10:42:56 In Reply to: Re: Feedback please! almost ready to buy!!, Ajay, Mon, 13 Nov 2000 13:58:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sorry for the delay in responding, I hadn't bought the car yet and didn't want to jinx myself :) It's the red 1992 in the classifieds, (fairly close to the top of the listings) located in TX, mileage is 106XXX, final price W/O delivery to San Diego $7650.00.
I feel like I overpaid just a touch, BUT the car is/was owned by a long time saab owner, who's son just happens to be a saab technician. The car has a complete history to about 65K miles, some gaps until about 92K, in the last 12K miles it has had about 2500.00 in parts alone.
It made me feel pretty itchy to buy a car sight unseen and undriven, but in actuality the distance made me do my homework more thoroughly than i have when buying cars in the past. Paying to have a pre purchase inspection at the local indy as well as having the local dealer run the history, etc., i know more about this car than others I have bought in the past.
Soooo, now I'm a two saab 9K family, with both ends of the drivetrain spectrum covered, an 88 S with 2.0/auto and the 92 T with 2.3/manual. Plan is to use the S for a work car/everyday driver, with the T as my sunday driver. Already shopping for performance exhaust for the Turbo, as one thing the inspection turned up is the rear muffler is about to rust thru.
one thing I WILL be doing this winter on the turbo is changing the interior color, seems like ALL the 91/92 turbos have tan interior, YUK! Maybe it's just me, but regardless of whatever the interior color is, the dash and console are supposed to be BLACK on my cars :) I'm thinking I might get a touch racy with the interior and install new black carpets, have the seats redone black with the seating inserts red (too much?), and the door panels black with the arm rest cutouts red. also toying with the idea of repainting the factory three spoke wheels red w/polished outer rims.
Hmmm, i should probably also shop for a radar detector....Somehow i feel my almost 10 years without a ticket streak is in jeapordy zipping around in a red saab turbo :)
