I have been using the Jacobs omni-magnum on my 88 9Kt for a few years now. No problems with the system. It is a tight fit- I relocated my engine fuse box. I do remember feeling a distinct improvement in throttle response after installation. I think their horsepower claims are a bit inflated, however. Milage did improve a bit, I believe. One key to their numbers is that you increase the spark gap. They give you a table that calculates the proper gap depending on how many of their components you use. According to the chart, the plug gap should be around .040", up from .028.BUT- they recommend that turbo engines not use this table! You are supposed to increase the gap in .005" increments until performance decreases!? With stock boost, you could probably use a .040" gap.The big problem is if you run increased boost, because the higher boost requires a smaller gap. I've been using a gap of .032" running up to 18 psi of boost.( the last time I spoke with a sales rep, they told me to use the stock gap setting) That's borderline for gap on my engine. I am disapointed that I can't use a bigger gap. The Pro-street model offers a re-strike feature that might be beneficial in this scenario. Which brings up another point- Jacobs salesman are SHADY! I was led to believe thet I was getting the Pro-street system for the price I paid. You will get a different story from each sales guy.If you do buy from Jacobs-HAGGLE- their prices are NOT set in stone. The Jacob wires are no better than stock Saab, so don't waste your money there. AN interesting note- almost all of the import racer guys(honda, mitsu, etc.) use MSD ignitions.
