Overboosting Turbo...

Hi, I took a 9000 turbo into this Saab repair center, (Import AutoHauss) and they told me that the transmision was making a noise, the turbo is over boosting, and the check engine light is always on. I'm some what stuck on whether or not to go ahead with the deal. The guy is asking $5400 firm for the car, it has 116k miles on it and is in pretty decent shape. It drives very smoothly...so I'm someone confused. The repair place said the tranny might go, but it was just replaced with a used one not too long ago. When I drove the car the turbo felt great, kicked in nicely and timely and the shifting was VERY VERY smooth. What do you guys think? Is the shop possibly being over paranoid or could they be certain that the tranny is going to fall out pretty soon. My last question is, what is "overboosting" and how will it affect the car? I heard someone say it could damage the tranny or something, but I don't know. I don't even know how the tech knew just by driving that the car is over boosting, maybe he's a turbo expert...who knows...I have to come up with an offer for the guy or a response promptly. If anyone can give input on this matter and some options possibily...thanks!!!
Joseph
