No, I am not promoting either oil Fossil or synthetic and certainly not arguing any fact. My Saab dealer changes my oil around 3000 to 4000 and the price is 19.95 for Kendall 10W30 and a new Saab filter. He will install full synthetic Mobil 1 for 49.95. and notifies customers at 10,000 miles to come in for a change. I have been looking into doing it myself and was comparing prices when I found Kendall is 1.15 a quart and Mobil 1 is 3.95. So my dealer is incorrect on something either the Synthetic is too expensive or the Fossil is too cheap. Seems the labor would be the same regardless of what is in the crankcase.
My first car used a toilet paper filter and we changed oil every 1000 miles but then a quart of oil was 22 cents and gas was 15 cents a gallon and you didn't have to pump it! Those were the days!
