I'm also looking for a battery. In my '91 9kt, which also requires the 34R battery, the battery is turned such that the terminals are towards the engine, not towards the left front fender. In this arrangement, the red terminal is towards the front. The arrangement of the battery wiring supports this - the ground strap comes out at the back of the battery tray.
I found an Energizer 7 yr battery for $42 which listed compatibility with the 34R, but the red terminal is to the left. I wonder if I can merely turn the battery around for installation, but there are front posts on the battery. These are covered by plastic discs, but I worry the disc might at some point fall off and the red battery terminal might touch metal up around the strut tower if jarred. The price is tempting, much better than $120. How much are those Interstate 34R's?
