My '91 didn't play well with batteries, but after going through two or three in as many years I bought an Interstate 34R which survived for several years until I sold it. Consumer Reports tested batteries in October and Interstate did dead last in tests of Group 35 and best in Group 24. Figure that one out. In fact, almost all brands that did well in the first group did poorly in the second.
I think my last Interstate was around $75 and a 34R, which is a universal fit. Since mine is showing signs of weakness (cranking voltage <10v when cold), I need to decide. With CR's tests to go by that show inconsistencies within brands, how do you decide? I did okay with the Interstate last time around, so I guess that's as good a pick as any, and the price was right.
